Packing for a move is only half the battle. Sure, you may toss all of your stuff into nondescript cardboard boxes, but how do you tell which is what when it’s time to unpack? That is why it is always a good idea to color code your moving boxes, so you can tell what’s in the boxes just by looking at them. Here are some ideas on color coordination for labeling moving boxes.
The simplest option is to just buy a pack of multi-color permanent markers ad use those. Alternatively, you could purchase colored label stickers or even color tape. Baymeadow Moving and Storage in Jacksonville, FL would say the most effective method is to buy individually colored labels you can write on. That way you have the color and contents of the box right in front of you.
There are two ways you can go here: either you can organize boxes based on the particular room of the house or by the kind of thing in the box. So you can label a box “kitchen” and pack all your relevant kitchen items, or they can be more type-specific, such as “dishware” or “electronics.” The choice is up to you and how you feel best organized.
If you end up using colored markers or stickers, make sure you place them directly on the front of the box about 2/3rds the way up. That way you can easily identify boxes if they are stacked on top of each other. If you use colored packing tape, make sure you can clearly see the colored tape when the boxes are organized in the moving truck.
