The holidays have come to a close which means its time to put away those lovely decorations. Unlike things like furniture, holiday decorations are a bit more delicate and need to be packed and stored properly to avoid damage. Baymeadows movers are here to offer some tips on how to properly pack your holiday ornaments.
When packing ornaments, a normal cardboard box is not the best idea. You need something extra sturdy to prevent your ornaments from getting flattened. A great place to get boxes is from a local liquor store. Liquor stores have tons of leftover boxes they’d be willing to give away and these boxes are sturdy and have internal compartments for storing glass bottles. Used egg cartons also make great storage containers for smaller ornaments. You can also pick up boxes from your local movers.
Nobody likes having to untangle a dense string of lights. That is why you need to make sure that you properly wrap the lights up before you pack them, and don’t just haphazardly throw them into a box. That way they are easier to get out when the next holiday season rolls around. Wrapping your lights before packing also keeps bulbs from breaking.
If you a real holiday tree, then you should get rid of it at the end of the season. If you have an artificial tree, make sure you get a storage bag for it. A storage bag will keep the tree safe from dust and moisture and keep the spines from getting everywhere.
