Covering the Elections

Covering the elections is a monumental task. From news reporters, to local law enforcement, so many people come together to make this important day a success. At Baymeadows movers, it means the transportation of voting equipment for all 199 precincts in Duval County.

Since 2010, we have handled the transportation, storage, and delivery of voting equipment throughout the entirety of Duval County. From the early hours of the morning to late at night during the elections, the Baymeadows Movers team take an active role in the movement and logistics of the equipment.

“This is an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ type of week”, says Michael McCreary, VP of Sales. “All of our team knows how important this task is, and we don’t take it lightly”.

“It’s not just the ballot stations where you stand and vote.” McCreary goes on to say. “We handle the shipment of every scanner, card reader, and of course, every paper ballot from start to finish.”

An operation this big isn’t completed in a day. Our team takes nearly 3 days to move all of the equipment from the warehouse into the trucks before the election. We then mobilize every truck to deliver the voting equipment across all of Duval county’s 199 voting precincts. According to 2019 research data, there are over 647,000 registered voters in Duval county alone, and Baymeadows Movers handles every one of their ballots.

“Security is top notch, and we make sure to take the utmost care with each person’s vote,” says Chris McCreary, VP of Sales and brother to Michael. “We have multiple checklists and policies in place to ensure nothing is missed, along with a local police officer to provide additional security when we transport the equipment.”

Security is important, but it’s our crew and staff that are the real heroes of the story. Every employee is trained in the proper way to handle every piece of equipment, from ballot bags, to the cones used for setup and distancing. Every item is accounted for, and triple checked for accuracy and inventory purposes. Even with our staff being on high alert, the county provides multiple employees and volunteers to make this one of the most involved projects for the team throughout the whole year.

“What people don’t think of is how big this effort is, and how many people are involved in the process,” says Chris. “ Our team is well prepared however, and with multiple elections in a year, we love helping out the community with this important job.”

“At the end of the day, we couldn’t be happier with our efforts to help Duval County vote in every election,” says Michael. “As a local family business, we feel honored to be trusted with this awesome responsibility.”

Mike Hogan, Supervisor of Elections, couldn’t agree more.

“I just want everyone to know how much we appreciate Baymeadows Movers,” says Hogan. “We can always trust them with our precious cargo.”

Trusting ANYONE with your “precious cargo” can be a scary thought, and Baymeadows Movers knows that. We always roll out the blue carpet for our clients, and make sure that the safety and security of whatever is being moved takes priority.
